Horry County Real Estate Tax AppealAs a real property owner, you should have received, or will be receiving very soon, your new tax notice and are likely confused. There has been a 2.87% decrease in overall value and your tax bill has gone up. If you have called the Horry County Assessor Office, you have certainly heard things like Assignable Transfer of Interest (ATI’s) or Taxable Capped Values. Don’t let any of this confuse you. All real estate is not created equal and reappraising/appraising over 200,000 (two hundred thousand) parcels of real estate is a daunting task. The Assessor is sure to have made some mistakes in the true fair market value of some of these properties. This is why there is an appeal process.
